All technology and frequencies referenced are over 15 years old at this point. Sadly, as a result, over half of the book is obsolete to the point of being useless. That's several lifetimes in scanning. For example, trunking and digital transmission are referred to as future technologies. In its day it was deep enough to keep your average hobbyist busy for several years. Were the author to update it this would be one of the best reference manuals around.
This book has a copyright date of 1995. Some of the information and laws have changed since this book has been written. The scanners that are on the market today did not exist 12 years ago, therefore most of the information on the scanner itself is hopelessly outdated. Other than radio theory which at times can be confusing, this book is a waste of time.
Disappointed. This was much to "deep" for a novice. Interesting "coffee table" book.
Actually this is a good book. It gives frequencies in general not for individual states etc. But it is a well written and very informative book and we are glad I ordered it.
Great scanner book. Has frequencies and police termonology to everything else. Covers every aspect of the scanning industry. A must for all scanners and scanner wannabe's. I recomend this book to anyone who owns a scanner. Greatest scanner book i have & i have all of them.
